Update 2024: The price of the lunch menu has increased to 29.50 and no longer includes mineral water and a bottle of local wine which makes the increase even steeper. However the food is still as good. Highlights this time were the creamy 'ensaladilla rusa' with prawns and the excellent desserts: the turrón icecream with a hot chocolate sauce and the amazing white chocolate mousse with its small pieces of mango and mint granita. 2023: Excellent quality food and super efficient friendly service. We had the weekday set lunch menu at 27 euros with plenty of choice. Very difficult to describe in English but here goes. For starters we had their traditional speciality of white haricot beans (alubias blancas) cooked to perfection, one with a fried sardine and the other with Aragonese sausage (longaniza). The 'picantón' chicken with a Catalan sausage (butifarra), plum and apple stuffing...delicious and the turrón (almond) ice cream dessert with chocolate sauce...brilliant. Mineral water and a bottle of local wine included.

High quality dishes, very well presented and with creative touches that don’t invade the original recipes. The menu includes local cuisine such as the lamb (ternasco) and wider Spanish food. Tends to be busy, primarily with locals, so book in advance. We were lucky to be accommodated at the last minute on the day, by arriving early. Service is attentive and polite. Worth pointing that they have a convenient parking across the street, since the restaurant faces a road.

I have been to the Fonda Alcala for the fourth time this year and have been extremely satisfied each time. The dishes are sophisticated but not too complicated - the quality of the products is outstanding, cooked with great skill and the service is very professional and friendly. A big compliment to the whole family, an excellently run restaurant and it was fully booked every time I visited, a good sign, isn't it!

It was absolutely a great dining experience. Professional, attentive and knowledgeable service crew made us feel at home. There are plenty of exciting and exquisite food offered here. I tasted the best ravioli ever since I came to Spain! The bacalao just melted in the mouth as it was just perfectly cooked to the point. I have to warn you that the mousse here is a devil! I couldn’t help but finished the whole thing even though I was already full! The little touch of the mint in the dessert is definitely unforgettable! I kept telling my husband to bring me back here on some other day. Oh yeah, vegetarian options are available too! I’m also thankful for their kind hospitality to our fur babies by the way!

Beautiful local restaurant. Super kind and helpful staff, very varied set lunch menu which is incredible value. The chef came out to guide us through the menu in English with loads of charm and passion, which was reflected in the food. Highly recommended.

Sunday lunch- buzzing! Lively atmosphere in modern surroundings. Really Great food without trying too hard. Attentive and friendly staff move things along as fast or as slow as you want. Wines are terrific and good value. All in all a great experience and well worth an hour in the car for us. Must try to get there mid week to try menu del dia. D

A perfect authentic Aragonese lunch. Good ingredients, well cooked and served. I enjoyed all three courses. Friendly, helpful staff, nice modern surroundings and popular with locals. Thank you, see you again soon!

We hadn't been here for years so we were pleasantly surprised when we had such a good meal here. The menú is more expensive here than some restaurants around but it was worth it. I must mention the waiting staff who are very attentive, noticing small details like a dropped napkin.
